Protect your sleep
Frequent work travel can quietly wear people down. Early flights, unfamiliar beds, late dinners with clients and a full inbox all chip away at sleep. Since sleep affects everything else, it deserves the most attention.
Pack a sleep kit: an eye mask, earplugs and perhaps a familiar pillowcase. Ask for a room away from the lift and the street. Try to keep a consistent bedtime even on the road, and limit screens in the last half hour before sleep. Within Europe, time differences are small, so keeping your usual routine is usually realistic.
Move every day
You do not need a full workout to feel the benefit of exercise on a work trip. A brisk walk to your meeting, a run along a river or a short session of stretches and bodyweight exercises in your room all count. Packing running shoes or resistance bands takes little space and makes it more likely you will actually move.
Walking is also one of the best ways to see a city between meetings. Even twenty minutes outside can clear your head and help with jet lag on longer trips.
Many hotels have a small gym or partner with a local fitness centre, and some cities have outdoor exercise areas in parks along rivers or seafronts. Ask at reception when you check in.
Eat and drink with intention
Business travel is full of rich food and easy snacks. Aim for balance rather than strict rules: a good breakfast with protein and fruit, a lighter lunch and a mindful approach at dinner. When hosting or being hosted, choosing water between glasses of wine keeps you sharp the next morning.
Flying is dehydrating, so carry a refillable bottle and fill it after security. Healthy snacks such as nuts or fruit help you avoid long gaps between meals when meetings run over.
Make the journey easier
Reducing stress around the journey itself helps. Frequent travellers often find a Flex fare worthwhile: free rebooking and refund up to 24 hours before departure ease the worry when plans change, while fast lane security and the lounge give a calm space to work or rest before boarding.
Finally, give yourself recovery time. If you can, avoid scheduling a big meeting the morning after a late return flight.
