How online check-in works, step by step

Online check-in opens 72 hours before departure. Here is what happens when you check in, what you need, and the deadlines to keep in mind.

When check-in opens and closes

You can check in online from 72 hours before your scheduled departure until 45 minutes before. That three-day window gives you plenty of time to sort your boarding pass from home, from the hotel, or on the way to the airport.

We send a reminder as soon as check-in opens if you have the AeroVista app installed and notifications switched on. You can also check in through our website using your booking reference and surname.

What happens during check-in

First, we confirm the passengers on the booking and ask you to check or add travel document details where needed. Then you will see your seat. On Classic and Flex you will already have chosen one; on Lite, a seat is assigned at this point. If you would rather pick, you can still buy a seat before you finish.

At the end you receive your boarding pass. In the app it is saved automatically and works offline, so you do not need mobile data at the gate. You can also download a PDF or print it at home.

If you have bags to drop

Checking in online does not mean you have to travel with hand luggage only. If your booking includes checked bags, simply head to the bag drop at the airport with your boarding pass. Bag drop closes 40 minutes before departure, so allow time for queues, especially on busy summer mornings.

Forgot to add a bag? You can still do it in Manage Booking before you fly, and it is cheaper online than at the airport.

Getting to the gate

Boarding closes 20 minutes before departure, and gates can be a long walk from security at larger airports. We recommend going straight through security after bag drop and checking the departure screens for your gate. Flex passengers can use fast lane security where available, which helps on busy days.

Travelling with a group or family on one booking? One person can check everyone in at once and share the boarding passes. If anyone on the booking has requested special assistance, check-in works the same way, and the details you entered in Manage Booking are carried through to the airport team.

Good to know

  • Check in as soon as the 72-hour window opens if you are travelling as a group on Lite.
  • Save your boarding pass in the app so it works without mobile data.
  • Remember the three deadlines: check-in 45 minutes, bag drop 40 minutes, boarding 20 minutes before departure.
