Clean cabins, flight after flight
A clean cabin is one of the first things you notice when you step on board. Keeping it that way across many flights a day takes planning, the right routines and a lot of care from the people doing the work.
Our approach combines quick cleans during turnarounds with more thorough cleaning when the aircraft is on the ground for longer.
Between flights
During a standard turnaround, the cleaning team works fast. Seat pockets are emptied and checked, rubbish is removed, tray tables and armrests are wiped, and the toilets are cleaned and restocked. Any spills or stains are dealt with before the next passengers board.
Because this happens within a short window, the team follows a fixed route through the cabin so nothing gets missed and different tasks do not get in each other's way.
Overnight and deep cleans
When aircraft stay overnight at a base, there is time for more detailed work. This includes vacuuming carpets, cleaning overhead lockers inside and out, wiping windows and window blinds, and cleaning galleys thoroughly.
At regular intervals, cabins receive a deeper clean that goes into areas not reached day to day, such as seat tracks and panels. These are also good moments to check cabin fittings and report anything that needs repair.
Cleaning products are chosen to be effective on cabin materials while being safe for the aircraft's fittings and for passengers. Seat covers, headrest covers and other textiles are replaced or cleaned on a regular schedule, and the team checks the condition of each item as part of their routine.
How you can help
Passengers make a real difference. Handing rubbish to the crew during the flight, keeping seat pockets clear of used items and letting the crew know about any spill help the cleaning team prepare the cabin quickly. It also helps the next flight leave on time.
Every one of these steps is designed to fit around the rest of the turnaround, so a clean cabin and an on-time departure go hand in hand.
Good to know
- Hand rubbish to the crew when they pass through the cabin.
- Check the seat pocket for your belongings before you leave.
- Tell the crew straight away about any spill.
